Viña Salceda it was founded in 1969 in a small and picturesque town, Elciego, in the Rioja Alavesa and in the heart of the DO Rioja. Although it is not one of the oldest wineries or has vineyards of many years, the half century that it has been in existence has placed it among the best producers of reds. Thanks to its great variety of soils and its special microclimate, the vineyards give an excellent quality of grapes.
La Dehesilla, El Roquial and Valdefrailes are the three vineyards that are cultivated in the calcareous clay soils of the estate and from them the *tempranillo, mazuelo and graciano grapes which form the coupage of the Viña Salceda Crianza. That the vineyards are pruned and harvested manually and with respect, is felt in the quality of their wines. That they are cared for sustainably and without herbicides, does not go unnoticed.
